A bit of history
The physical presence of Mariannhill in Colombia starts on the 8 of september,2008 when the Bishop of Vicariato de Trinidad, Mons. Javier Pizarro OSA, entrusted to the Mariannhill Missionaries the Mission Center “Maria Auxiliadora”, located in Montañas del Totumo, department of Casanare, the so called Llanos Orientales of Colombia.
In 2012, the missionaries of Mariannhill were invited by Bishop Daniel Caro Borda to settle in his dioceses of Bosa, outskirts of the capital city of Bogota, where a parish was going to be stablished and entrusted to the care of Mariannhill.
An small flat was bought by Mariannhill in the area of the future parish; this flat , as such , was the first official quarters of the Congregation in Colombia.
In 2014, Mariannhill bought a plot in order to build a proper Mariannhill house to accommodate more Mariannhill members and students.
After a long , the licence for building the new house was granted on the 16th September 2016. On the 5th of December, same year 2016, the building work started. A year later, on the 6th of December 2017, the new house, named under the protection of the recently beatified Fr. Engelmar Unzeitig, was blessed and open.
